GALWAY FLAMENCO DANCING AND SINGING WORKSHOPS:
!!!!!!!!!Extra Workshop this Sunday, 21th June, 12.30 - 3pm
E20, we will work "Farruca" style!!!!!!!!!!
This time we will work another style called: FARRUCA - one of the oldest, originally reserved only for man style of flamenco, but nowadays danced by women as well.
The dance itself is full of proud movements, women often in man clothes. It requires strong "pitos" (finger-snaps), and good rhythmic heelwork.
Of course we will be learning how to do it.
The rhythm is kept slow and cadenced except for the sudden eruptions of the dancer's "llamadas" or breaks, signaled on the first beat of a compás. After the break, the rhythm picks up slowly again. For those who were at our first workshop Farruca will be a good continuation of understanding "4-th" rhythms and Tangos Style. For those who want to join us for the first time, farruca is one of the best styles of flamenco to truely feel it's spirit.

The Workshops aim to discover the "Flamenco culture" one of the most passionate, powerful, charismatic original art of Europe. At the workshops will be taught Flamenco basic steps and basic singing, Flamenco tales & movie fragments, drawings (for children).
It is aimed for all who likes moving, dancing, singing and discovering a culture. No previous experience required in Flamenco dancing or singing. It will also be perfect to improve "style, elegance, rhythm, strength ..." for your body posture and for your dancing or singing if you are already dancing or singing in any other form like Salsa, Tango, Latin, Ballet, Contemporary, Hip-hop just to name a few!
The workshops will be taught by Magdalena Navarrete a graduate from the Flamenco Seville (Spain) school and vocals from the academy of music in Warsaw. For the non English or Spanish speakers Magdalena also speaks Polish,

Singing classes are for everybody who wants to try own power, and needs it for a dancing classes. Singing classes even if you are not a professional singer makes you feel better, and makes you more able to understand the flamenco music. Also developing your ears and your creativity.

Flamenco workshop will take a place in absolutely magic and inspiring place called „Sopatowiec" . The house atmosphere is made by Gosia, and her family. Buddhist women who makes for us lovely vegetarian food(5 elements diet, one the most healthy way of eating). The house is surrounded by mountains, forests and animals, and is outside of every type of civilization. This is really authentic place full of artistic air, and you can feel it in every step of your dance and every note you are singing. Please visit www.sopatowiec.pl
There are two ways of sleeping in the house: very nice and full of space attic or 4,3-people rooms. You need to take a sleeping bag, pillow and a towel. There are beds and mattresses. We have there all types of „civilization comforts" like: telephone, Internet, bathroom, hot water, etc.
Every day's program depends of our needs and energy.
Every morning we have dance - technique classes. Also in the mornings we will have a singing emission classes and breathing sessions. Many days we will go to the forest to breath in fresh air. In the afternoons we plan to have choreography and improvisation classes.
We plan also one-day trip to the high mountains, and singing classes there. There is a wonderful place to visit to see „high tatra".
There is a time for a fire all together, dancing nights, and many flamenco movies. We will also take one day off - without any classes.
We will speak in Polish, Spanish and English. There will be people from different places.
Full price for 10days with food(3 wonderful dishes every day)sleeping in the attic and all classes is 300E, in case of sleeping in the rooms is 340E + travel is your own cost.
Very important notice is that you don't need any money down there. There are no shops, and no pubs. This is nature and forest. Everything what you may need, as a beer or wine or sweets, can bring Gosia with her car from the town. You just need some money to buy yourself a drink when we will go to the town, or in the coffee place in the mountain. You will have a possibility to exchange money with me.

Magda Navarrete was born in 1980year in Warsaw/Poland. She was studying vocal in Komeda's Music Jazz Academy in Warsaw. She is also a graduate in Anthropology of Culture in Madrid Autonoma University and CESLA, Latin-American Studies in Warsaw University.
She is the heart and soul of latin-fusion music project called Noche de Boleros, which she created seven years ago. She has been learning since she was nine years old and the process has never stopped. For the last twelve years she has focusing mainly on Latin American and Flamenco music. Living in Madrid and Seville, she had an opportunity to learn flamenco dance from Merche Esmeralda, Jose Maya, Farruquito, Alondo Pavon, La Truco, and El Torombo and Flamenco singing from Angel Carmona, Rafael Rodriguez, Nino del Elche, Montse Cortes.
Her unique style; a fusion of bolero, Latin rhythms, and flamenco, and a touch of jazz; is highly appreciated in Europe and also has an audience in Latin America. Her numerous invitations to festivals in Latin American countries stad evidence to this. She is developing her vocal skills with SLS techniques.
She performed in musicals such as ‘Miss Sajgon' in ‘Roma' theatre in Warsaw. She has also performed in many other theatre, television and radio productions, e.g. ‘Indialucia', ‘Arteflamenco', Klejpeda Jazz Festival (Lithuania), II International Bolero's Festival in Venezuela, X International Festival in Columbia, Bolero Festival in Berlin, International Festival in Uruguay, Tango Festival in Spain, Hindi - Flamenco project in USA with tabla palyer - Samir Chaterjee, National Radio Romania live concert, Don Chento Jazz Festival in Russia, etc. She just signed a contract with Warner Music Poland, and her first longplay album "Chilli" came out last year. She is also a teacher of flamenco singing and dancing, working in Poland, Berlin, London and Galway - Ireland.

Andres Martorell has studied singing for over 12 years. He has been all around the world and studied under different methods: Italian Belcanto, German Method, and Speech Level Singing.(SLS)TM He has been teaching and running workshops over the last 5 years. Andres is a Level 2 certified Speech Level SingingTM vocal coach . He is the only certified SLSTM teacher in Ireland. Andres has been selected in 2008 as a Speech Level Singing as a EAG(Educational Advisory Group)representative in Europe for the Ireland Region.
As an active member of SLSTM International he has constant access and training from the very best vocal Master teachers in the world.
Andres has studied with Master teachers: Jeffrey Skouson, Dean Kaelin, Greg Enriquez, Michael Goodrich, Wendy Parr, Dave Stroud and with Seth Riggs in USA, England and Poland.
Currently, Andres teaches from his voice studio in Galway, at music schools, colleges and performing arts academies in Galway and Dublin city.
He sees over 100 voice students weekly.
Andres says:
"All my life I‘ve been just a normal singer with a limited range. For so long I wondered why other singers were able to sing with ease and strength the high notes and I could not. I dedicated my life to try to learn their secrets. I studied Belcanto and German method with well known teachers. I learned everything about "pushing from the diaphragm", "place the sound in the mask", "relax to sing", "bringing the sound from inside out", etc, ...SOUNDS FAMILIAR? After spending so many years with a lot of different teachers I discovered I hadn't learned yet how to sing the high notes with ease and master my range.
